Hey everyone,
Things are going along pretty well. Mom is healing from the surgery and able to have clear liquids! It's the small steps that REALLY excite us on this journey. :)
We still don't know when she will be coming home because we've hit a bump in the road...actually it's more like a big pothole. During surgery some damage was done to the femoral nerve in Mom's left leg...big bummer because she is having a difficult time controlling this leg. This all translates into the fact that Mom cannot currently walk. Hummmm...However, we are feeling more encouraged each day because it IS better than it was 2 days ago. She walked about 60 feet today with lots of help from a walker and 2 physical therapist! The doctors and physical therapists don't seem too worried about this. They feel that it will resolve itself with time.
We've had a good weekend and all little grandkids got to have a visit with "Maw-Maw." Of course they had lots of questions but were super happy to see Mom! They sure did brighten her day. We also had a little excitement at the hospital this afternoon as a tornado warning passed through town. The nurses were rushing around getting all the patients and family members out in the hall. We enjoyed our little pow-wow out in the hall as the storm passed over uneventfully.
We continue to feel surrounded by all your prayers, support, and kindess. I am overwhelmed each night as I think about all the genuinely loving people God has placed in our lives. We are grateful beyond words!
Good night and have a great rest of the weekend!
PS If you need a "focal point" for your prayers...think "femoral nerve!" :)
